How To Downgrade iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS Baseband From 6.15.00 to 5.13.04

Hello everyone. Good news for all those who were stuck on iPad baseband 6.15.00 on their iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS. You probably installed the iPad baseband on your iPhone because you restored to a stock IPSW and ended up upgrading your baseband and lost the ultrasn0w-unlockable baseband. Ultrasn0w supports basebands upto 5.13.04 on iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. So the iPad baseband trick came to rescue for all those who upgraded their baseband beyond 5.13.04. Installing the iPad baseband 6.15.00 allowed iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users to unlock using ultrasn0w, so their iPhones won't just become and iPod!

The iPad baseband method to unlock iPhone 3G and 3GS came to rescue, but with a price. The iPhone with iPad baseband installed had to lose the GPS functionality. The iPhone had to be restored with a custom IPSW, while making sure to select the "install iPad" option. This was not convenient and so now finally the iPhone Dev team has released the method to downgrade the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS from iPad baseband to the normal iPhone baseband.

In this tutorial, I will show how to downgrade your iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS from iPad baseband to iPhone baseband.

Step 1
Download latest redsn0w for Windows or Mac
Download latest iTunes.
The stock IPSW for the iOS your iPhone is currently on. You would probably have it because you used it to create custom IPSW. If you don't have it, then click here to download.

Step 2
Connect your iPhone to your computer.
Open iTunes and sync it (take backup). Close iTunes.
Run redsn0w.
Click Extras, click Select IPSW. Provide the stock IPSW of your iPhone's current iOS version.
Click Back.

Step 3
Power off your iPhone using the Power button.
Click Jailbreak in redsn0w.
When it shows options, select "Downgrade from iPad baseband" option. Uncheck the Install Cydia option if your iPhone is already jailbroken. Otherwise, select it if you would like to jailbreak your iphone.

Step 4
Click Next.
Now you will be guided to enter Pwned DFU mode, so follow the steps shown in redsn0w.
Once your iPhone is in Pwned DFU mode, the downgrade process will start. You will see the Pwnapple logo (running pineapple) and after that, the flashing of baseband will start.
Do not disconnect your iPhone while the process is ongoing. The "Flashing Baseband" process takes about 10 minutes to complete and no progress is shown on screen. So be patient.
When the process is finished, your iPhone will reboot.

Step 5
Check the new baseband.
Go to Settings - General - About and check "Modem Firmware". It should be 5.13.04.

Step 6
Now open Cydia.
Uninstall ultrasn0w and re-install it (or simply upgrade it if you are not on the latest version). Also re-install Mobile Substrate if you are having no signal or your iPhone is crashing.

Step 7
Check the GPS functionality. Open Maps and check the GPS function. It should work fine now.

Okay so that's all. This was the tutorial on how to downgrade iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS from iPad baseband to iPhone baseband.

If you like this tutorial, if you found it useful or think others may find it useful, please take a minute to share it.

If you have any positive or negative feedback, criticism or suggestions, please post in comments.

How To Play Call of Duty MW 2 Multiplayer on Dedicated Servers - The FourDeltaOne Tutorial

Play CoD MW2 on Dedicated Server
Related - Want to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer online? The FourDeltaOne IW4M tutorial is posted here.

Related - Want to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer online? The FourDeltaOne IW5M tutorial is posted here.

Yo everyone, wazzuppp!!! This post is for all those AlterIWNet Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 lovers. As you may know, AlterIWNet, the community famous for its modding of Call of Duty MWF2, was shut down due to the Cease and Desist notice they received from Activision. All that belonged to AlterIWnet - their server, forums etc had to shutdown to avoid legal actions against them. After AlterIWNet shutdown their operations, the AlterIWNet community was divided into two. Almost all core members of the AlterIWNet project started a new community named AlterGaming where they will keep the community alive and develop their own FPS game. While NTAuthority, the main coder of the AlterIWNet started a new community as FourDeltaOne to continue the AlterIWnet project the legal ways.

If you are among those who missed AlterIWNet badly, and prayed that it could come back anyway it could, good news for you is that NTAuthority and his team has done the great job to bring back the old AlterIWnet fun! While NTAuthority left the AlterIWNet scene, he made the decision to continue the AlterIWNet project in legal ways, as he knew what went wrong with AlterIWNet project that allowed Activision to label it as "illegal". That is why he founded FourDeltaOne. The FourDeltaOne team has worked hard to bring back the AlterINWet project in legal ways and they have succeeded. They have released the IW4M Updater and Installer a few days ago which will allow you to play Call of Duty Modern Warfae 2 online on dedicated servers, just like AlterIWNet did. It also supports features such as mod support, custom textures etc just like AlterIWNet. So in this tutorial, I will try to explain how to use IW4M and play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer online.
Note : This tutorial is not intended to work with pirated copies of Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

Step 1
Preparing everything you need.
Install Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on your computer if not already installed. It should not have previous mods. If it does, then uninstall it and install a fresh copy.
Download IW4M installer from here.
Go to FourDeltaOne (Click Here) and register an account. Remember that your username will be used as your display name in the game too. And all your stats like rank, XP, guns, attachments, class etc will be synced with your account. So you can play on any computer with your username and you will have your data there.

Step 2
Run InstallIW4M.exe.
Click Browse button and navigate to the Modern Warfare 2 installation folder and select it.

Play Call of Duty MW 2 Multiplayer

Now the IW4M installer will download and install files as needed.

Play Call of Duty MW 2 Multiplayer

Once the download is finished, it will show the confirmation message.

Play Call of Duty MW 2 Multiplayer

Step 3
Run "Play IW4M (Modern Warfare 2)" from the start menu.
Now the updater will start updating files as necessary.

Step 4
After the updater finishes updating files, it will ask you for username and password. If it does not, then run "Play IW4M (Modern Warfare 2)" from start menu again.
In the username and password fields, enter your FourDeltaOne forum login details.
Check the Remember credentials check box if you don't want to enter login details every time you run the game.
Press OK and your game will start.

Step 5
Game On!
Now you are all set to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer online, along with thousands of other people online.
Click Browse Servers and it will show the dedicated server available.
You can set the game type as needed.
Double click on a server name to join the game and the game will start.

So this is it. You are all done. Bring back your old AlterIWNet memories. Play the game and have fun.
FourDeltaOne - Frequently Asked Questions/Troubleshooting
I am sorry but I will not be providing any troubleshooting for this as this is relatively new and I have yet to test it out to learn more about possible bugs. FourDeltaOne forum has a nice, detailed thread on all possible errors and bugs and their fixes. So visit this thread to learn how to solve your problems. If you have any problems running the game, you should and ask the community. They will solve your problems for sure.

My friend wants to play on my computer with his username. How do I configure his account replacing mine?
Go to the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 installation folder. Find this file - iw4m.ini. Open it with notepad and remove your username and password. Enter your friend's username and passwords there and save and close the file. Now run "Play IW4M (Modern Warfare 2)". Your friend will get his stats there now.

If you want to change the account again, follow the same method and enter your username and password in iw4m.ini.

Okay so this is it. Have fun playing COD MWF2 again. I will be back with more. Until then, kisses and hugs. Buh buye..!

If you like this article, please share with others. Post your message, feedback, criticism, FourDeltaOne experience, AlterIWNet memories etc in comments below. Disqus is not bad at all, trust me.

iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Ready : Expect Release In A Matter Of Days

Update : iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak is out now. Read more and learn how to jailbreak your iDevice on iOS 5.1.1 here.

Hello everyone. Good news for those all waiting for an untethered jailbreak for their iDevice on iOS 5.1 or 5.1.1. iPhone security researcher pod2g has made it possible again. pod2g found exploit(s) needed to make iOS 5.1 jailbreak untethered a few weeks ago and he was testing it out on all iDevices. He confirmed that his iOS 5.1 untethered is working fine but then Apple released iOS 5.1.1 with a few bug fixes.

pod2g then started testing his exploit on iOS 5.1.1 and he has got his untethered jailbreak working on iOS 5.1.1 too. He recently Tweeted that his untethered may not work on iPhone 3GS and iPod 3G as the kernel vulnerability didn't work on them.

But a few days later he suggested that he has found a way to make the untethered work on iPhone 3GS and iPod 3G.

After testing his untethered on all devices, he has confirmed his 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak working on all devices except AppleTV 3.

pod2g has also confirmed that @planetbeing has worked hard and has fixed iBooks issue with the upcoming untethered jailbreak just in a few hours.

After testing and confirming his iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak working on all iDevices (except AppleTV 3), pod2g posted a poll on his blog in which he asked whether he should release the jailbreak or wait for iOS 6 release. Most of the voters voted in favor of release the jailbreak instead of waiting for iOS 6 release.

Now it seems that the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak is ready to release now and it pod2g will release it soon, possibly at the Hack In The Box Conference 2012 at Amsterdam which is taking place between May 21st to 25th.

pod2g has posted a list of device tested with the 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak on which it it confirmed working, not working and devices remained to test (but should work).

Now all those waiting for iOS 5.1 or 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak won't need to wait more. The 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak is on its way, just in a matter of days.

Update : iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak is out now. Read more and learn how to jailbreak your iDevice on iOS 5.1.1 here.

Anonymous Continues #OpIndia - Disables More Indian Websites

Yesterday, the famous hactivist group Anonymous launched #OpIndia to attack a number of known websites. OpIndia was launched by Anonymous against the internet censorship in India. Two weeks ago, a Chennai-based firm Copyright Labs succeeded to get a John Doe Order from Madras High court which ordered ISPs to block some known file sharing websites such as The Pirate Bay. Famous video sharing site Vimeo was also blocked along with Pastebin. Users of many private ISPs - notably Airtel and Reliance, were not able to visit these websites and were shown a message from the ISP that the website they are trying to visit is blocked as per Court orders.

Anonymous launched attacks on a number of Indian website against the Indian censorship. Yesterday, a Twitter account associated with Anonymous - @opindia_revenge posted updates on targeted websites. The targets included - Department of Telecom website - www.dot.gov.in, Supreme Court of India's website - www.supremecourtofindia.nic.in, All India Congress Committee's website - www.aicc.org.in and Copyright Labs website - www.copyrightlabs.in.

Now Anonymous has continued the attacks on other websites. Anonymous targeted more websites last night. The attacked websites included Reliance Big Entertainment's website - www.rbe.co.in, Indian Youth Congress' website www.iyc.in, Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) website www.cert-in.org.in , Kapil Sibal's website - www.kapilsibalmp.com, Delhi Government's website - www.delhi.gov.in and Loksabha website - www.loksabha.nic.in.

The Twitter account @opindia_revenge kept updating about the latest attacks throughout the day.

Anonymous's #OpIndia started receiving support from Indians for their operations. The @opindia_revenge's follower base kept increasing throughout the day. People thanked them for launching the operations and also ask them to target other websites.

The @opindia_revenge account suggested that the attacks will continue and they have prepared their target list. They have planned to attack some "major" websites.

At the time of writing this, many of the attacked websites remained down. It is unclear if this move will change the Government behavior at all, but we could keep a hope to get a response from the targeted websites, IPSs and the Government itself.

Keep in touch for more updates.

Anonymous Launches #OpIndia Against India's Internet Censorship : Disables Number Of Sites

Since a few months, internet censorship is a hot topic in India. A few months back, Mr. Kapil Sibal provoked controversy when he spoke about proposed censorship against social networking sites such as facebook, Twitter, Google along with other sites. India is also thinking of bringing the Internet Censorship bill. A few months back, a number of file sharing websites were blocked in India following a John Doe order. Upon visiting the blocked website, users were shown a message that the site they are trying to access is blocked as per instructions from Department of Telecom (DoT). No private ISP ever accepted that they have started blocking any website. Later all blocked websites were accessible.

Now this censorship saga has continued. A few websites were blocked again this week. These sites include torrent sites such as The Pirate Bay, BitSnoop along with some other sites such as PasteBin and Vimeo. This time also the reason is same - John Doe Order from a court. Many users were unable to visit these sites and they were shown the same message as last time - This site is blocked as per instructions from Department of Telecom (DoT)

Now this time, this censorship move has caught attention of famous Hactivist group Anonymous. It seems the Anonymous boats are sailing towards India. Twitter account associated with Anonymous - @Anon_Central tweeted a hint of #OpIndia few hours ago.

Namaste #India, your time has come to trash the current government and install a new one. Good luck. | #SaveTPB #Anonymous #Censorship

Another Twitter account associated with Anonymous - @YourAnonNews also suggested the launch of #OpIndia.

Namaste India - We see you've met some of the #Anonymous battle fleet's infamous cannon fire. Tsk tsk for censoring #TPB & others. #OpIndia

After the launch of #OpIndia, Anonymous temporarily brought down a number of Indian Government websites. The attacked websites included the Department of Telecom site - www.dot.gov.in, Supreme Court of India's website - www.supremecourtofindia.nic.in, and All India Congress Committee's website - www.aicc.org.in. Anonymous also brought down www.copyrightlabs.in, a Chennai based firm fighting to curb piracy.

All the above mentioned sites were down at the time of writing this. Any site which recovered was attacked back and taken down again. A Twitter account associated with Anonymous @opindia_revenge posted constant updates on attacked websites.

http://mit.gov.in & http://dot.gov.in both down!

Anonymous #India- Tango down: http://www.copyrightlabs.in | Reason: for promoting #Censorship & lobbying / bribing the politicians to pass the bill

At the time of writing this, these websites are under constant attacks. It can not be said how large the attack will be and how far Anonymous will go with #OpIndia. While Anonymous may think attacking Government websites will be a good idea to force the Government to unblock the sites, it is still unclear if Government actually knows about what is going on. When asked by a News Channel, Chairman of AICC'c computer cepartment Vishwajeet Singh denied any attacks on AICC website.

The site is not hacked at all. It was not opening for sometime because the load on the particular server was too heavy due to huge number of hits after the news of website hacking spread. It went slow at that time due to over- traffic

it would be interesting to see how the Indian Government reacts on this issue (if it reacts at all) and if it will unblock the websites. It can not be said for how long these sites will be blocked.

Keep in touch fore more info regarding this topic.

Apple N Berry Recalls Gevey Ultra 5.1 SIMs for iPhone 4

Just a few days ago, Apple N Berry, reputed and well known Chinese maker of Gevey SIM released the latest version of Gevey SIM called "Gevey SIM Ultra 5.1". Gevey SIM Ultra unlocked iPhone 4 GSM on latest basebands 4.11.08 and 4.12.01 as well as older basebands. There were no updates on the latest Gevey SIM that would unlock iPhone 4 on latest baseband until the unlock via SAM method was discovered by a Chinese hacker called Locktar_Sun. As soon as the SAM unlock method was released, Apple N Berry came into action released its Gevey SIM update.

Yesterday it was suggested by MuscleNerd, famous iphone hacker from iPhone Dev Team that Apple is fixing the SAM unlock method and soon, no iPhone could be unlocked using the SAM method. Today, Apple N Berry has posted on their blog that they are recalling the latest Gevey SIM Ultra, as they were based on Locktar_sun's SAM unlock method. A blog entry posted on Apple N Berry blog titled "GEVEY Ultra 5.1 for GSM iPhone 4 Recalled" reads as below.
Unfortunately, the GEVEY™ Ultra 5.1 for GSM iPhone 4 will no longer unlock the iPhone 4. The unlocking mechanism used in this model was based on Loktar Sun's discovery of an Apple server logic error that took advantage of an ICCID bug to unlock the iPhone modem firmware. On April 27, Apple fixed this bug.

Apple N Berry, LLC is accepting returns for all GEVEY™ Ultra 5.1 for GSM iPhone 4 purchased on our website. Customers who haven't received their shipment yet will automatically receive a full refund via their payment method chosen during checkout. Paypaly usually returns funds to user accounts within 10 days after we issue refunds.

This comes as a shock, as Apple N Berry is a reputed name in iphone hardware unlocks. They were the first to release a hardware unlock for iPhone 4 while the other hackers failed to make a working software unlock and people were desperately waiting for an unlock for their iphone 4. Soon after their release and confirmed working, Gevey SIM were a hit and iphone 4 users from all over the world used them for a reliable unlock.

The SAM unlock method discovered by Locktar_sun was a free unlock. Apple N Berry smartly "stole" the publicly and freely available method and released it under their name as Gevey SIM Ultra 5.1 for $49.99! This was indeed a smart move by Apple N Berry to release an already available free unlock method to release as their own and to earn some big moolah. But as Apple fixed the SAM unlock method, Gevey SIM Ultra 5.1 also became useless. This forced the company to recall their Gevey SIM Ultra 5.1 so they could possibly retain their well maintained reputation.

But even after recalling the now-useless Gevey SIM Ultra 5.1, Apple N Berry doesn't seem to be gaining respect as people are furious after knowing the Gevey SIM Ultra were based on a already freely available unlock method. Apple N Berry also knows that just apologizing and recalling their Gevey SIM will not be enough as they have lost their reputation, and it is of course hard to gain it.

The blog entry ends with the following:
We realize that a simple apology will not suffice for many loyal customers. We are working on future product updates and will surely make good on our commitment to customer satisfaction.

After the blog entry was posted, Apple N Berry's Gevey SIM Ultra 5.1 page displayed its availability as "Sold Out". After the news of recalling the Gevey SIM Ultra 5.1, price of the other method of unlocking iPhone 4 GSM on latest basebands, known as R-SIM IV were increased from $19.99 to 24.99. and its availability was also shown as "Our of stock".

I have already ordered Gevey SIM Ultra 5.1 from Apple N Berry. What now?
Apple N Berry has said that they will refund all the money to you and you should receive it soon.

I am stuck on baseband 4.11.08/4.12.01 on my iPhone 4? Can I unlock now?
You are just a day late in thinking of it. Just before yesterday, the SAM unlock method used to work for all iPhone models on all basebands. Anyway, there is still hope on R-SIM IV which can unlock your iPhone 4 GSM on baseband 4.11.08/4.12.01 as well as older basebands on iOS 5.1 or lower. R-SIM IV is the only method available right now for your iPhone 4 on baseband 4.11.08 or 4.12.01.

  • Be quick if you want to unlock using SAM, this method might not last long. Once you unlock using SAM method, it may be possible to retain it forever. But for now, just unlock it, for free!

Update : The Gevey SIM Ultra 5.1 are recalled by Apple N Berry as they were based on freely available SAM unlock method. Read more here.

Spam Alert : Spammers Sending Spam Emails That Looks Like Myspace Emails : Do Not Open

Hello everyone. In this articles today, I want to warn you about recent spam emails from Myspace. A lot of users are receiving this kind of emails that looks like authentic emails from Myspace, but these are in fact spam emails. A few weeks ago I posted about authentic looking spam emails from YouTube and Tagged. Following the same strategy, spammers are now sending emails from Myspace.

These emails contains different titles including, but not limited to, as below:
  • Tina Moore has sent you a new private message.
  • Aisling Phillips has sent you a new private message.
  • Megan Wood has sent you a new private message.
Upon opening these emails, you are probably going to take them as authentic email from Myspace itself. But after taking a closer look on them, you will come to know that they are not authentic at all.

These spam emails looks like below:

As you can see, this fake emails looks very similar to Myspace emails. They contain link to view the message and links to profiles of famous artists like Justin Bieber, T-Pain, Travis Barker, and K$sha. Under these artists' names, they contain link to be friend with them. Also note that these emails are sent from a fake domain - noreply@message.myspace.com, which is absolutely not Myspace official domain.

At the end of the message, it contain a link to turn of the notifications from Myspace.

Now all these view message button, famous artists' profile links and update account setting links are fake. Under all this "legit looking" links, hides a link where the spammers wants to take you. If you click any of these links, you are not going to Myspace, but to a page which may contain malicious scripts. It may steal your information. It may also drop a Trojan or backdoor in your computer. If it is none of these, it will probably be a Viagra site.

It can be anything on that page, but you surely don't wish to go there. You should stop yourself from clicking any of the link inside these emails, and delete them right away. It could be harmful to click any of the links inside these fake emails.

Now as posted in previous scam alerts about YouTube and Tagged, these spam emails are taken as authentic emails from Myspace and are put in your "inbox". So it is not surprising you take them as authentic emails. It always makes me wonder if the spam filter actually works.

Anyway, this is it. Do not open any sucpisious looking emails. If you open them, mouse over the links and see if they are fake links to a third party web page. If so, delete the email right away without having a second thought. It is up to you to be alert. So Be smart, be safe.

Until next, bye!

Spam Alert : Spammers Sending Authentic Looking Fake Emails From Tagged

Hello everyone. Since a few days, many users are receiving lots of emails from Tagged, a social discovery website. I have never been on Tagged, and never heard of Tagged before I received these emails. I had a strong feeling about these emails being fake and were being sent by those jobless spammers. These email are very similar to the YouTube spam emails. They are sent with the same strategy. They make these fake emails looking authentic and make you follow the links inside.

Similar Article - Spammers Sending Spam Emails That Looks Like YouTube Emails : Do Not Open

These spam emails are titled "Tagged" and have different subjects.
These fake, spam emails have any of the following subject :
  • Linda W sent you a message...
  • Ina E sent you a message...
  • Maura R sent you a message...
  • Caroline N sent you a message...
  • Glenys N sent you a message...
  • Ailsa D sent you a message...
  • Alison H sent you a message...
  • Mairead O sent you a message...
  • Morwen E sent you a message...
  • Mandy S sent you a message...

At first, I used to ignore and delete these emails, as I never heard of Tagged, and was not interested in doing so. But these emails are sent everyday and they bombard your inbox with it. Upon opening these emails, you can see that they look very authentic. The layout of these emails is well prepared to look legit.

These spam mail contain a small picture of a girl. Below the girl's photograph, her name and age are displayed. The message starts with You have a new message! Then it displays incomplete message. "Mairead O says: Hi, do you remember me? Can you.. " followed by View Message button.

As I have highlighted in the above picture, all the links that these emails contains, points to the same URL. And obviously this URL is not related to Tagged.com. Different Tagged spam emails contain different URLs under these links and none of them are authentic.

Upon clicking any of the link, it takes you to some Viagra websites (as usual!). Now this is not it. If you clicked any link inside the email and come to see that is only a Viagra website, think again. Because the page where the link takes you can contain malicious scripts that can steal your data or drop a malware on your computer.

At the bottom, the email contains Tagged Inc.'s address, which seems true. In the last line, it says - "All Tagged emails will be sent from our official @tagged.com or @taggedmail.com domains to your registered email address. We will never contact you from any other email addresses." This line is added to make you fool. While @tagged.com is Tagged's authentic email, @taggedmail.com is not. @taggedmail.com is used by those spammers to send you these authentic looking spam emails. So if you check the address to see where it came from, you will get any email address ending with @taggedmail.com.

What should I do if I receive this kind of spam emails?
I you receive this kind of spam emails, delete them right away. Do not open them and never click on any link inside the email. It could pose a threat to your computer system, The web page you will visit after clicking the link may contain malicious scripts that can steal your personal information like passwords, or it can drop a malware on your computer. It is possible that your security software can not identify the threat.

How do I stop receiving theses spam emails?
You can add the domain @taggedmail.com to your ignore list and set every email you receive from this domain to be sent directly to trash. These settings can be set in your email provider's options.

If you have received any other similar, authentic looking emails, please let me know. I will post them here.

Will be back with more posts, until then, stay safe and enjoy the power of Internet.

alterIWNet Permanently Shuts Down - Community Devided Into Two

alterIWNET shuts down

Update : I am testing out the FourDeltaOne's IW4M (MWF2). A tutorial will be posted soon upon success. Wait for that please.

Update 1 : Rejoice! AlterIWNet is back! I have tested FourDeltaOne and it works great. The FourDeltaOne step by step tutorial is posted here. Go read it and bring back your AlterIWNet memories.

Update 2- FourDeltaOne has released tool for CoD MW3 multiplayer online. The FourDeltaOne IW5M tutorial is posted here.

The very famous video game modding community known as alterIWNet has been shut down. The alterIWNet was known for its modding of Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2. The modding allowed additional features such as dedicated servers, which were not present in the original release.

A few weeks ago, a message was posted on the alterIWNet forum that they have received a Cease and Desist notification from Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP on behalf of Activision Publishing Inc, the publisher of the Call of Duty series. They were notified to immediately stop their operations which were infringing US and International copyright laws.

The alterIWNet community decided that they will comply with the law and will stop their operations. It included the alteriwnet servers, and the community forum being shut down.

While it was still unclear when the servers and forum will actually go down, the game was able to be played online. Later it was suggested that the alterIWNet servers will go down by 13th March 2012. But as 13th March passed, the game was still playable on their servers.

Yesterday the servers finally went down and users were not able to connect to the alterIWNet servers anymore. Today the forum home page displayed the message K.I.A 2012-03-18. The farewell message was posted by MaxDamage, Administrator and one of the core members of the alterIWNet development.

The message reads as below:
Hello community,
As you've definitely heard, alterIWNet received a Cease and Desist notification from Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP on behalf of Activision Publishing Inc, demanding that we stop our operations due to infringing US and International laws.

It is for this reason that we're shutting down our operation indefinitely. Please refrain from taking any actions on our behalf, such as harassing letters, posts, "denial of service" attacks, telling your grandmother or anything else that you may deem wise. There is nothing more we can do here, unless Activision recognise us as a legitimate modding community.

Thank you all for your continued dedication and contributions to alterIWNet and to PC gaming as a whole.

After the confirmation that alterIWNet will comply with the law to avoid further actions, the community was divided into two. NTAuthority, the main coder of the alterIWNet mods started a new project as FourDeltaOne at www.fourdeltaone.net where he will start the development of new version of alterIWNet, which will be played only by legitimate users (who own the game). On the other side, the other core members of the alterIWNet community - MaxDamage, Blitz and others decided to keep the forum alive and started a new forum AlterGaming at www.altergaming.org, where they will discuss about gaming and other topics, along with development of their own FPS game.

alterIWNet's Modern Warfare 2 mod was highly popular among gamers from all around the world as it allowed dedicated servers setup. It was played by thousands of users on hundreds of servers daily. It is a big shock for all alterIWNet lovers that it has shut down.

Modding of Call of Duty Black Ops, know as alterOps and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, known as alterMWF3 were also in development by alterIWNet. This in-development projects are believed to be reason about the notification from Activision. Some members of the community said all was going fine until they started developing of alterOps and alterMWF3. Some also believed the reason for getting the notification was that alterIWNet allowed players to play using pirated copies of the games.

The rival game modification community known as TeknoGods, which also mods Call of Duty series and other games, was quick to release an update for its very popular Modern Warfare 3 modification known as TeknoMWF3. With the update, TeknoGods made sure that it does not allow pirated copies to be used. This was a smart move to stay under the Activision radar.

There seems no chances of AlterIWNet bringing back its Modern Warfare 2 mod and all those who want to play it multiplayer will need to use steam. The other option will be TeknoGods' TeknoMWF3.

Farewell alterIWNet. You will be missed.

Update : I am testing out the FourDeltaOne's IW4M (MWF2). A tutorial will be posted soon upon success. Wait for that please.

Baseband Downgrade From 4.11.08 to 4.10.01 Possible Using SHSH Servers?

Update : Unlock for baseband 4.11.08 and 4.12.01 has been released. You can use SAM method, Gevey SIM or R-SIM to unlock your iphone on baseband 4.11.08 and 4.12.01 now.

To Unlock your iPhone using SAM Click here.
To Unlock your iPhone using Gevey SIM Click here.
To Unlock your iPhone using R-SIM Click here.

Update #2 : None of the above mentioned method works now as SAM unlock has been patched by Apple and Gevey/R-SIM were based on it.

If you are a jailbreaker and unlocker of an Apple iDevice, you may know that in order to unlock your iPhone using any software method (ultrasn0w) you must have a qualifying baseband. Not all basebands can be unlocked by a software unlock. If you mistakenly upgrade your baseband to a baseband that is not supported by software unlock, you are out of luck.

One must have to wait for the software unlock to be upgraded for that basebend so that his/her iPhone can be unlocked. Otherwise, there is a new kind of unlock available which is hardware unlock. You have to put a SIM along with your SIM in order to stay unlocked. These SIMs are known as Gevey SIM.

Your iPhone's baseband will be updated if you use stock IPSW instead of a custom IPSW. Once you upgrade your baseband, you can not downgrade it (it was possible long ago though). So what if you upgrade your iPhone's baseband? The current iOS version is iOS 5.1 and the baseband version is 4.11.08. The software unlock is far away for newer basebands. You can still use Gevey SIM to unlock your iPhone. But Gevey SIM does not work with baseband greater than 4.10.01.

So what if you could downgrade to baseband 4.10.01 from 4.11.08? Well, a Chinese website Beijing iPhone Repair is reporting that they received an email from Chinese hackers who claims that the Hackers group has developed SHSH Server that allows you to downgrade from 4.11.08 to 4.10.01 Baseband.

The message read as below (translated) :
"Downgrade baseband service is available to those who have mistakenly updated to iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1 and stuck on baseband 4.11.08. Software downgrade service: Downgrades to firmware 4.3.5, baseband 04.10.01, no SHSH backup required.
Guaranteed non-hardware type of downgrade, disassembling is not required, will not break your device in any way. You can put a tamper proof sticker on the screws (to prove that the iPhone is not taken apart)"
There is no confirmation on this from anyone yet, and there is no further information available at the moment. This can be just a fake news but if what they claim is true, this will help a lot of people who have upgraded their baseband to 4.11.08 and are stuck without unlock. If one could successfully downgrade basbenad, he/she could use the Gevey SIM to unlock iPhone.

So this is it, will post update if available. Stay tuned.

Happy Holidays : iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak Is Out Now

Hello everyone. Back with a great news for all of you jailbreakers. iOS security researcher and jailbreak developer @pod2g has released much awaited iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak. He was working hard for long time on exploits he found and after enough testing by both iPhone-dev team and Chronic Dev Team, the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 has been finally released. This jailbreak will support only those devices running on A4 processor and not A5 processor. In short, this jailbreak will not work with iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

Both the dev team has released the jailbreak developed by pod2g in their own different ways. While the iPhone-dev Team has released a new version of redsn0w to jailbreak your device, Chronic Dev Team has released this jailbreak as a Cydia Package for those who are already on iOS 5.0.1 having tethered jailbreak.

I am posting the tutorial soon so stay tuned. The tutorial on how to jailbreak and unlock iOS 5.0.1 is posted here.

Mark Zuckerberg's Private Photos Leaked As He Becomes Victim Of A Glitch Of His Own Site

Since the day Facebook was launched, concerns and questions over its privacy and security policy are being raised. Facebook is always a target for not being so serious about its users' privacy. Facebook privacy settings are changed every now to make them easier for users but it's never enough.

Now Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook got the taste of his site's security glitch too when an US engineer named Mike Rundle allegedly discovered a bug in the website's photo reporting tool which allowed users to access users' pictures even if they were set to be private.

Mike Rundle was able to look at the private photos of Zuckerberg by reporting a profile picture as "inappropriate" due to a glitch in the site. Mike says he first read about the security glitch on web forum.

A spokesperson for the social network told CNET that it was only a short term glitch which occurred during a recent code push and not all content was accessible. Facebook says they have fixed the bug already.

Below are the leaked photos of Mark Zuckerberg in which he is seen with his girlfriend Priscilla Chan, dog Beast, US President Barack Obama and some friends.

November 29 : Pay A Blogger Day : A Great Idea of Appreciating Bloggers

A few days ago, I received an email from Flattr about something called "Pay A Blogger Day". I was like, what is that? Pay a Blogger? I mean I could be paid for being a blog writer? I don't need those stupid ads to be shown on my blog anymore, to earn a few bucks? I mean it could really happen? Bullshit. I never thought that way. But hey, the idea of paying a blogger is really nice. "Pay a Blogger Day is our effort to put the bloggers in the spotlight to recognize the value they bring to the internet. Not to mention our own daily web consumption" the page on Flattr blog reads.

While these cool guys at Flattr are planning to celebrate the Pay A Blogger Day tomorrow - 29th November, I think it is really a good chance to write up my experience with blogging, how I started this blog and how well it is going.  Read on to know my experience of starting a blog and making it helpful to others.

You know what? I really never thought of being helpful to others by writing a blog. I always intended to make my blog to be the cool, nice place where I could hangout, I could write my ideas, thoughts and stuff, where I could share my experience with everyone and by this way or that, I have succeeded somewhat.

I mean this is not the place I always wanted to make what it is right now, but when I actually created my blog, I wasn't really sure about what to write? I used to read others' blogs and found them interesting. I like reading, and writing too. But what would I write man? I wasn't sure yet.

Then I thought to start by posting some interesting news. But there are thousands of news sites, open for years, who's gonna read mine? Days kept passing and one day I started by posting my own iPhone experiences and experiments. Now this is what I like to write about the most. I started to post different iPhone tutorials and not to mention, no one used to read them. Sigh..! My first actual article was about saving SHSH blobs. How many people read that? Not more than 200! And no, I wasn't surprised.

Then I started to post some tech news. And about 20 people read them. Days kept passing, post count kept increasing and reader count? The same - 5, 20, 25, 39... time to lose hope. Shut this damn blog, no one's ever gonna read it. But I didn't stop. I kept posting iPhone tutorials and other stuff. As day kept passing, I kept posting, no matter anyone reads my blog or not.

Then all this started changing. I stopped updating my blog for weeks. I was like, it don't matter I write or not. But it was my child, I would never abandon it. Then I started posting again. Back with a bang eh!

My iPhone tutorials were grabbing attention. daily page views started increasing. People actually started reading my tutorials. They started asking for help. And this was the great feeling! My blog actually started making sense!! This boosted my enthusiasm and love for my blog. I started posting more and more about iPhone, mostly tutorials. And people found them helpful. What a time that was!

After having enough page views as per my satisfaction, I felt like I should just go this way - post about iPhones, tutorials, news everything. Then I jumped on technology track. Being a tech geek, it wasn't hard to write up some tech stuff. And that's it. My blog, turned a tech blog. But actually I don't just write about tech stuff. I always grab a chance to write about some interesting things going around. I write about the governments, the people, things that matters to me and others, and I like to post my views.

After having 150 posts on my blog (it could be more, but I removed a few in early days) I no more think about how many people are going to read it, what people will think, what the will say, I don't think all this. It was one of the happiest day in my life when I bought my own domain! and my blog turned Blog O Nerd.

And yeah, I was talking about Pay A blogger Day right? Well, it doesn't really matter being paid. I could be paid in cash by putting that Please Donate button on my blog. But I never thought to be paid for my blogs. Everything I post about are my own experiences and I don't think I am doing anyone a favor by writing. But this doesn't mean I don't need money. I need it. That's why I started adding ads on my blog. I, myself don't like ads but I have to put them here. I need a good money for my upcoming exams and I hope people visiting my blog don't get the wrong idea.

Do you think any of my posts were useful to you? Do you think I could be paid money for my tutorials? Well, even if you think yes, I don't want it. I don't want to ask for money, if you think I could be paid even a little penny, just give it to anyone in need. Any poor, needy one could have that buck instead of me. They are the one who actually needs money, more than me. If you really want me to have some money, please use Flattr. It is a great idea of sharing revenues. I will not keep the money and will donate to others.

You know what, when people say, "Man! This was really helpful. You really saved my life! Thank you", it feels great. If you really like my posts, share them with others, it is all I can ask. If you like, send me an email, having a cool photograph or video of you, your children, your pets, especially cats - and their cute kittens! Send me your love, your good wishes, a picture of rose, a poem, a song, a joke anything you like that can make someone smile.  My email is - iambl0gger@yahoo.com. And if I get your love and best wishes, I plan to remove some ads from my blog.

Okay then, that's it from me today. Have a happy Pay A Blogger Day tomorrow.

98 Percent Of People Cant Watch This Video For More Than 15 Seconds : Facebook Click Jacking Scam

This article has been updated on 14th June 2012.

Hey everyone. How are you doing? Long time since my last post eh! Today was a busy day and I didn't get chance to check mails, facebook and twitter and stuff the whole day. At night when I opened facebook, to my surprise, I received a message (because usually nobody messages me!). This message was from one of my friends and it was titled - "this is sick". To my curiosity, I opened the message to read and thought it was the authentic message from him, but it wasn't. It was one of many facebook spam/malware/scam messages roaming around facebook since long.

When I opened the message, it had a link titled - "98 Percent Of People Cant Watch This Video For More Than 15 Seconds". I thought "wow. 98 percent people ha?" Then I thought I have seen so many sick videos, so bad that barely anyone could watch. So this was like a challenge for me! I can't see the video, even for 15 minutes huh? I thought I'm not going to see the video and waste my time but on a second thought I decided to give it a try.

Update : The click jacking scam is on rise again. Many Facebook users are receiving different messages from their friends they never send. These new scam messages are titled ad below :

* [VIDEO] Snake Eats MAN! CAUGHT ON TAPE- A Giant Snake Swallows Up A Zookeeper in Front of Hundreds of People!
* You'll Never BELIEVE This Video
* Man in wheelchair fall down elevator shaft "[SHOCKING VIDEO]"

What was the video all about? Was it really unwatchable? Or I watched it till the end? Nope, because it is not an actual video at all. It is a kind of spam that spreads through facebook. On opening the link on the message, it takes you to a facebook page telling you to enter "yuk!" as comment. But wait. It is not actually a facebook page. it is facebook lookalike page. When you visit the page, it looks almost the authentic facebook page, but if you look into the address bar, you come to know it actually is not. Underneath the "Share" button on the page, there is another spam website. Clicking on the share button takes you to that site and victimize you.

So what exactly this thing is all about?
Well, this is one kind of spam. It is also called "click jacking". There are many jobless people all around the world who have enough time to create this kind of shit and make people fool. They have lots of time to spend and what they do is to waste yours. These guys don't spend much money on this kind if shit. They buy the cheapest domains available like - .info, .biz, .tk, .cc etc. Their purpose of doing this may vary. For example some scams are just to spread spam wall to wall. Some scams are used to drop a malware on user's computer. Some scams are created to generate traffic to affiliated websites etc. Some scams are run to fool people into something attractive like "Free iPhone" etc where they ask you to fill up a "simple" survey.

Some months ago, I wrote similar article, which described another kind of facebook spam which used to spread wall to wall. One thing you should note that the spammers usually use multiple domains, so anyone who receives such message may receive different link.

What should I do when I receive this kind of scam message?
Whenever you receive this kind of spam/scam message, first delete the message. DO NOT click on the link in the message. If you mistakenly clicked the link, and it opened the page, do not click the "Share" or "Like" button otherwise you will end up spamming all your friends with the same message you received. Aware all your friends about this message and tell them not to open it and delete it right away. For further help visit this facebook help page

My friends are receiving this kind of scam messages from my account. What shall I do?
First thing you should do is to delete the message from your message box and anywhere else you find it. Log out from facebook and other websites you might be logged in. Clear all cookies, cache and other temp files using some cleaning applications like CCleaner. Its free. After cleaning everything, reboot your computer and change you facebook password. You should also tell your friends that any similar message they received from you is a scam message and they should delete it. For further help, you can visit facebook help page here.

Don't fall into this kind of scams and whenever you receive such links through messages, or any other way, don't go crazy and open the link and do as they tell you to do. Share this article and aware your friends about it. Be smart, be safe okay?

This article has been updated on 14th June 2012.
