Leaked Photos of Alleged Samsung Galaxy S4 Pops Up

While Samsung is ready to release the next generation Galaxy smartphone on March 14, some pictures have emerged on the internet which claims to be of Samsung Galaxy S4. Just as it happens with major gadget release like Apple iPhones, "leaked" photos of the next generation Samsung Galaxy are popping up on the internet. A user on a Chinese website named 52Samsung have posted pictures of a Samsung smartphone which he claims to be of Samsung Galaxy S4.


These leaked images shows a big smartphone having about 5-inch screen with curvy corners and metal (probably aluminum) stripe along the sides. The front and back panel appears to have dot-textured finishing.

The phone back contains a camera with LED flash and speaker appears to be at the bottom. The power button is on the right side. At the bottom, there is a micro USB port.

The hardware of this phone looks impressive with quad-core ARMv7 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz and 2 GB RAM. Photos shows this phone is running Android version 4.2.1.

While is is still unclear if these images are legitimate or not, it is clear Samsung will get benefit of the hype. Looking at the images, this phone does not look good in finishing or it may be just me not happy with the finishing.

While I am not a fan of Galaxy smartphones, and the whole Android thing, I will be interested more if these "leaked" images are legit or not. it is always fun to see the internet being filled with these kind of images which creates hype about the said gadget. I remember Gizmodo posting pictures of iPhone 4 prototype before its release and Apple allegedly got Gizmodo Editor Jason Chen's home raided.

This is what happens with every major gadget release. First the companies announce "something new" coming. Then people start speculating and "leaking" images and videos of this gadget. Some news of the product suddenly pops up. Some employee suddenly forgets the prototype in a bar, distributor or accessory maker "mistakenly" publishes listing on the website and quickly removes it after someone see it and "breaks the news" on the internet. Then companies avoid confirming anything. I bet they laugh at us in their offices because all the unnecessary hoopla gains them a huge benefit. They enjoy the drama before the release, and so do we right?

Apple Releases iOS 6.1.1 for iPhone 4S - Fixes Cellular Performance Issue - Direct Download Link

Apple has released iOS 6.1.1 update for iPhone 4S after some carriers including Vodafone reported poor cellular performance over 3G networks on iPhone 4S running recently released ioS 6.1. Vodafone recently notified that they were aware of an issue caused by Apple iPhone 4S handsets that have been upgraded to iOS 6.1 which impacts performance on 3G and asked those who haven't yet upgraded to iOS 6.1 to delay their update till Apple fixes the issue.

According to Apple - This update fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S.

How to upgrade to iOS 6.1.1?
There are two ways to upgrade your iphone 4S to iOS 6.1.1. One is Over The Air (OTA) update. Connect your iPhone 4S to a stable Wi-Fi connection and go to Settings > General > Software Update and tao Download and Install. iOS 6.1.1 will be download and installed on your iphone 4S. The benefit of OTA metod will be that you will have to download only around 86 MB in order to upgrade to iOS 6.1.1.

One thing you should keep in mind that if you are going to jailbreak your iPhone 4S after upgrading, you better not use OTA method as jailbreaks can't work on a device updated through OTA updates. Use the another method.

The second method is to download iOS 6.1.1 IPSW file for iPhone 4S and restore using it in iTunes. To do so, download iOS 6.1.1 IPSW and open iTunes. Press and hold Shift key on Windows or Options key on Mac and click restore button in iTunes. Release Shift or Options key and browse to the IPSW you just download and select it. iTunes will now update your iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1.1. The downside of this method is that you will have to download a large IPSW file weighing around 900 MB but the good thing is that you will not have to download it again if you need to restore again in future.

How To Jailbreak, Hactivate and Unlock iPhone on iOS 6.1 While Preserving Baseband

Hello everyone. So, the long awaited untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.x.x is finally released after the hard work by evad3rs and now you can jailbreak your iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4th and 5th generation and iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad. So now finally when the jailbreak is out,you can upgrade to iOS 6.1 if you haven't already and jailbreak your device untethered. If your iPhone relies on ultrasn0w or sim interposer like Gevey SIM to unlock, you must preserve your baseband while updating your iPhone as none of these unlock have been updated for new basebands. SO, in this tutorial, I will show you how to upgrade your iPhone to iOS 6.1 while preserving baseband, jailbreak, activate and unlock it.

Requirements
Latest itunes > 11.0
iOS 6.1 IPSW file for your iPhone. If you don't have iOS 6.1 IPSW file, you can download it from Blog O'Nerd Downloads. Click here to download iOS 6.1 IPSW from Blog O'Nerd Downloads.
Latest sn0wbreeze > 2.9.8

Which device are compatible?
iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS. A5 or later devices are NOT compatible for baseband preservation.

Take backup of your iPhone before doing any process.

Step 1
Run sn0wbreeze. Read information and click OK.
Click Next button.

Step 2
Click Browse for an IPSW button and browse for the IPSW you have downloaded and select it. If your device is iphone 3GS, sn0wbreeze will ask you if it is old bootrom or new bootrom. Select appropriate option. If you don't know about it, click New Bootrom.

sn0wbreeze will now show your device model and the version of the IPSW you have selected. Click Next.

Step 3
Now select Expert Mode.

Step 4
Click on General and click Next button.

Step 5
If you want to hactivate your iPhone, make sure you check the "Activate iPhone [Hactivate]" box and click Next button.

Step 6
If you want pre-installed programs on your IPSW, browse and select their .deb packages and click next.

Step 7
Click on Build IPSW and click Next.

Now sn0wbreeze will start building your IPSW. Wait until the process is finished.

Once sn0wbreeze finishes building IPSW for you, it will show the confirmation message.

Step 8
Click OK and sn0wbreeze will ask you to enter Pwned DFU mode. Click OK and click Start. Follow onscreen step to enter Pwned DFU mode.
Once your device is in Pwned DFU mode, it will show the confirmation.

Now once your device is in Pwned DFU mode, you can restore using it in iTunes.

Step 9
Run iTunes. It will say your device needs a restore. Click OK.
Now press and hold Shift key on your keyboard and click restore button in iTunes. Release shift key and select the custom IPSW that sn0wbreeze made . It will be on your desktop.

Now iTunes will start restore process. Wait until it finishes and your device reboots.

Step 10
After the restore is finished, you can now unlock your iPhone.

If you use ultrasn0w to unlock your iPhone, then ipen Cydia, let it do some first-run process if required and search for ultrasn0w. Install it and reboot your iPhone. Your iPhone is now unlocked and you should see the signal bar now.

If you use SIM interposer like Gevey or R-SIM, insert it in your SIM tray and do the unlock process as usual.

If you unlocked using the SAM unlock method in past, and ONLY IF you have backed up the Lockdown folder, you can now use it to unlock your iPhone. To do so, follow the below steps:

Open Cydia and install SAM.
Now open SAM and click Revert Lockdown to stock.
Close SAM and connect your iPhone to your computer.
Use an iPhone browser like DiskAid and browse to the /var/root/Library and delete the Lockdown folder there.
Now copy the Lockdown folder you backed up to /var/root/Library. If you used redsn0w to backup Lockdown, you will have the folder in .zip format so unzip it and then copy the Lockdown folder to /var/root/Library/ on your iPhone.
Reboot your iPhone. Open SAM and disable it.
Reboot your iPhone again and you should see signal bar soon.

Step 3
Once the process is finished, evasi0n will ask you to unlock your device. Swipe to unlock your device, and you will see the "jailbreak" icon there on your device's home screen. Tap once on the "jailbreak" icon and the app will open and close itself.

Now evasi0n will complete the rest of the process.

There was so much hoopla surrounding the iOS 6.1 final release, not because it would offer new features, but because the release of an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.0.1 was relied on it as jailbreak devs didn't want to release the jailbreak before Apple releases iOS 6.1 final. Now that Apple has finally released iOS 6.1 to public, we just need to wait for final words from jailbreak devs. As soon as Apple released iOS 6.1 final, the information started to come from jailbreaks devs.

Will Jailbreak Devs Prove Charlie Miller Wrong and Release iPhone 5 Jailbreak? Seems Yes They Will

Charlie Miller is a big name when it comes to finding bugs in Apple products. He is the man who found vulnerability in Mobile Safari in 2007, shortly after the first iPhone was released. Later in 2008, he won Pwn2Own contest by finding critical bug in Apple MacBook Air. In year 2011, Apple booted him out of its developer programs after he exposed a security hole in iOS that let applications grab unsigned code from third-party servers. He is also the author of iOS Hacker's Handbook. And yet, this is just an overview of Miller's accomplishments.

Now when this well known security researcher says that he predicts that iPhone 5 and iPad 2 will not be jailbroken in year 2013, many would be disappointed.

Charlie Miller tweeted that he predicts that iPhone 5 and iPad 2 will not be jailbroken in year 2013. This is a bit of sad news when someone like Charlie predicts so. But on the other side, there are jailbreak developers who may prove Charlie Miller wrong, at least this time. These jailbreak developers are those who have helped millions of Apple iDevice users free their device from the restrictive jail of Apple. Every time a new device or new iOS is released, everyone starts awaiting a jailbreak. And every time, these lovely jailbreak devs does their awesome (and not very easy) job to find exploits and release a jailbreak.

There has been time when Apple's security was easy to break and jailbreaks were released soon after a new iOS version is released. The cat and mouse game between Apple and these jailbreak devs has never stopped. Every time Apple puts better security in their products and every time jailbreak developers breaks it, sooner or later.

This time, the cat (Apple) seems to be winning as there is no jailbreak yet for latest iOS 6 and newly released iPhone 5 and latest iPad including iPad Mini. And even if that wasn't enough, Charlie Miller predicts that there won't be any jailbreak for these devices. This really seems disappointing but the good news is that Charlie Miller will be proven wrong and once again, the cat will be chased by the mouse.

While Charlie still believes that there won't be any jailbreak, jailbreak developers are ready to release the jailbreak! According to some recent tweets from pod2g and planetbeing, both renowned jailbreak developers and researchers, it is confirmed that the jailbreak for iOS 6.0.1 is ready and it will cover iPhone 5 too.

All the above tweets suggests that something big is coming up soon, jailbreak devs are not losing the race and soon it will be proven that Apple has been defeated again, while Charlie Miller is proven wrong. The critical exploits needed for the jailbreak were found and being worked on already by @MuscleNerd, @pod2g, @planerbeing and @pimskeks and they are waiting for Apple to release iOS 6.1. The reason behind waiting for iOS 6.1 release is that if they release jailbreak before it, Apple will fix it soon in iOS 6.1. Once iOS 6.1 gets released, it will be easy for the jailbreak devs to implement the jailbreak in iOS 6.1 too.

On the other hand, Apple has not yet released iOS 6.1 and it is still in Beta. It is supposed to be released by the end of this month and if it it does, it won't take long before the iOS 6 jailbreak is finally released. And yes, it is also possible that Apple is also finding the bugs that the jailbreak devs have found and may patch them in the final iOS 6.1 release.

Actually, the iPhone 5 and iPadMini were already jailbroken by @chpwn and @phoenixdev. This jailbreak was labelled as "failbreak" as they decided not to release this jailbreak to public, as it would burn an important exploit that could be useful in future.

Also to be noted, pod2g, MuscleNerd, planetbeing and pimskeks have founded a team that will be known as @evad3rs, a very meaningful name indeed.

The current scenario clearly suggests that the cat and mouse chase in not going to stop and there will be no winner unless. Apple will keep releasing new hardware and software, and jailbreak developers and security researchers will keep finding bugs in them, which will eventually be patched by Apple in the next update, and the game continues...

Alternatives See Huge Traffic Boost After Hackulous and Apptrackr Shutdown

Just a couple of days ago, the portal very popular among IPA Pirates called Hackulous was shut down by its creators. A message was posted on the Hackulous home page that they were shutting down due to "lack of activity" that made the community to feel like "ghost town". After the unexpected shutdown of Hackulous and their projects like Apptrackr and Installous, the IPA pirates are moving to alternatives quickly.

One alternative which was popular even when Apptrackr was operating - AppCake (iPhoneCake) is reported to see huge increase in traffic. Due to the boom in page views, many users are receiving error 500 - Internal server error or facing long page loading time. A message has been posted on AppCake page that they are purchasing new servers to handle the recent traffic boost.

Another and relatively new alternative iPASt0re is also facing similar problems due to large amount of page views being received. The official iPASt0re account on Twitter has tweeted that their site was not prepared for such a huge traffic. And that they are preparing new servers to handle the increase in traffic. A similar message has been posted in their forums too.

The totally unexpected shutdown of Hackulous and their projects like Apptrackr, Installous and AppSync has turned the IPA pirate community upside down. While some are still mourning the closure of hackulous, most of them are migrating to alternatives. And probably new crack and share sites will be seen in the race too.

Dissident, the owner of Hackulous has probably gone underground after announcing the shutdown of Hackulous. When TorrentFreak tried to contact him for an official statement, their email bounced. The actual reason for the shutdown of Hackulous is still unknown. Two members associated with site's project said that they were surprised by the decision.

IPA Piracy Hub Hackulous Shuts Down Permanently

The community (in)famous for cracking and sharing Apple iOS applications [IPA files] known as Hackulous has been shut down permanently. A message was posted on the site's main page couple of hours ago that the Hackulous team has decided to shut down the portal. The shut down of Hackulous includes the termination of Hackulous forum, Hackulous Cydia repository, Installous and AppSync.

Installous was the app developed by puy0 who abandoned it later and Hackulous adopted it (as far as I know). Installous allowed cracked IPAs to be downloaded and installed directly from their Apple iDevices. User could download cracked IPAs using direct links as well as bit torrent. All cracked IPA files were user submitted.

AppSync was a little tweak that allowed cracked IPAs to be synced with jailbroken iDevices. Ability to install AppSync and cracked IPAs was one of the big (but not the only) reason behind people jailbreaking their iDevices.

The farewell message posted by the Hackulous team is as below:

We are very sad to announce that Hackulous is shutting down. After many years, our community has become stagnant and our forums are a bit of a ghost town. It has become difficult to keep them online and well-moderated, despite the devotion of our staff. The hackulous team released tool(s) for cracking and sharing IPA files easily right from the Apple devices, which made sharing of cracked IPA files a piece of cake. Almost every paid app on the Apple App store was available to be downloaded for free. Most of the apps were available for download for free right after they were released on App store, which gives idea of how active the community was.

The shutdown of Hackulous and Installous has come as a surprise to its user as there were no news of shutting down the community anytime soon. Also, the hackulous team released update for Installous recently, which shows it wasn't planned to be shut down but to continue being developed. After the shutdown of hackulous, the Installous app started showing "Outdated version" message and terminated.

Apptrackr, the portal developed by Hackulous team solely for the purpose of sharing the cracked IPAs also seems to be shut down. "Server not found" error is being received when trying to reach Apptrackr site.

most_uniQue, one of the most active IPA cracker on Hackulous has tweeted that it was not a surprise that Hackulous has been shut down as it started dying right after he left it.

Hackulous and their projects - Installous and Apprackr were probably under the radar of Apple due to the copyrighted files being shared on them. There were news that hackulous received take-down notices from Apple many times (Can anyone confirm it?). Probably this was the reason for hackulous to be shut down unexpectedly.

While the actual reason for the shutdown of Hackulous may be unknown, this may be a bit of relief for Apple and App developers. But with many alternatives available, the copyright battle may be far from over.

It is also being said that the news to shut down hackulous permanently are just prank(?) and hackulous along with all other projects will be back online soon.

Acer Planning Low Cost 7-Inch Android Tablet?

Acer is reportedly planning to release its own 7-inch Android powered tablet. It is believed that Acer is planning to release it around the first quarter of the year 2013. If rumors are to be believed, Acer will use MediaTek processors in this tablet, probably to keep it low cost.

It is also rumored that Acer is going to put USD 99 price tag on this tablet.

Acer has neither confirmed not denied any reports on this yet but it won't come as surprise if the reports are true as every manufacture no matter large or small, is racing to release their tablets and the tablet market is increasing day by day.

Apple Announces iTunes Store for India, Russia, South Africa and Other 53 Countries

Apple has today announced the release of iTunes Store in 56 countries including Russia, India, South Africa and Turkey. Apple is promising large selection of local and international music from thousands of major and independent labels. Users can now download music as well as music videos, and buy or rent movies from iTunes Store.

The iTunes Store features local artists including Elka in Russia, Sezen Aksu in Turkey, AR Rahman in India, and Zahara in South Africa, international artists including The Beatles, Taylor Swift and Coldplay, and world-renowned classical musicians including Lang Lang, Yo Yo Ma and Yuja Wang. The official announcement on Apple's website reads.

The announcement further reads - "Movie fans can choose from a wide selection of films available for rent or purchase from the iTunes Store, with many available in stunning HD, from major studios including 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, The Walt Disney Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures, as well as leading local distributors".

Now that iTunes Store is available in many more countries including India, users can download music at very cheap price. For example, Indian movie songs are being sold at 12-15 RS per track. iTunes offers previews of songs so that users can listen to them before downloading. All the songs downloaded from iTunes store are high quality (256 kbps, AAC) and are virtually indistinguishable from the original recordings as Apple claims. iTunes Store also offers downloading of music videos at about 15 RS per video. Users can also buy or rent movies on iTunes Store.

After the latest announcement, iTunes Store is now available in total 119 countries.

How To Install Bluetooth Drivers On A Dell Laptop Running Windows 8

Hello everyone. In this tutorial today, I am going to show how to install bluetooth drivers on a Dell laptop running Windows 8. If your Dell system came with Windows 8 pre-installed, you will not have to worry about bluetooh drivers but if you used to run Windows 7 on it and now upgraded to Windows 8, you might have compatibility issues while installing bluetooth drivers using the installer you used in Windows 7.

To overcome this compatibility issue and install bluetooth drivers on your Dell laptop, you can still use your Windows 7 drivers. Let me show you how.

What this process will do?
After completing this process successfully, you will have bluetooth drivers installed on your system and you can use bluetooth services.

Which device is this process intended for?
This is intended for Dell Inspiron laptop models running any version of Windows 8. It might work with other models and other manufacturers too.

Okay so let's begin.

First of all, if you do not have drivers to install, you can download latest drivers from Dell here - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx. Provide your service tag number there and it will show all available drivers for your device.

Run your bluetooth driver installation file. For Dell Inspiron N5010 model, it is R226746.exe or Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module Application.exe. Note that it may wary model by model. Click Continue.

It will ask you the folder to extract files to. Keep it default, which is - C:\dell\drivers\R226746, and click OK.

After files get extracted, the installer may autorun. If so, it will show compatibility error. If it does not auto run and you run setup.exe manually by going to the C:\dell\drivers\R226746 directory, it will show you compatibility error.

So now to solve this problem, open Win64 folder if you are running 64-bit version of Windows 8 or Win32 folder if you are running 32-bit version of Windows 8. If you don't know which version you are running, go to desktop, right click on Computer icon and click Properties. See System type to identify which version it is.

After going to the folder, look for Inst.exe file. Right click on it and click Run as Administrator. The installation should start without the Compatibility error.

Now you can complete the installation. Make sure wireless radio is on before proceeding though.

How To Downgrade Your iPhone and iPod Touch From iOS 6.0.1

Hello everyone. In my last tutorial last night, I showed you how to upgrade to iOS 6.0.1 and jailbreak, activate and unlock. Now in this tutorial, I will show you how to downgrade from iOS 6.0.1 to any iOS version of your wish (conditions apply). And yeah, this tutorial can be used for downgrading to any other iOS from any other iOS too. Okay? So let's begin.

What this process will do?
After completing this process successfully, you will have your device restored to the iOS version you select. It will be jailbroken, activated and unlocked and it will have its baseband preserved too.

Why should I downgrade from iOS 6.0.1?
Well, it depends on you. You may not like iOS 6.0.1 or you may hate iOS 6.0.1 because its jailbreak is tethered and you need to connect it to your computer every time it needs to be rebooted or you may have any other reason and you may want to come back to the previous iOS version.

Which devices are supported?
iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4th generation for iO 6.0 and 6.0.1 downgrades.

What are the requirements for this process? (read carefully)
The most important requirement is that you must have the shsh blobs for the iOS version you want to downgrade to. If you don't have them, you can not proceed further. If you do not have shsh blobs locally, or don't remember where have you saved them, you can use the below method to grab shsh blobs.

Please note that if you device is brand new and came with pre-installed with iOS 6.0 or 6.0.1, it is obvious that you won't have the shsh for any previous iOS version and there is no way you can grab them. So this process is not for you.

If you have already saved shsh, skip the below step and move to the Step 1.

How to grab shsh blobs using TinyUmbrella? (it is the easiest method)

• Download and run the latest TinyUmbrella.
• Connect your device to computer.
• Click connected device in.
• Go to Advanced tab.
• Activate the "Request SHSH From Cydia" option. (if it is unchecked)
• Make sure "Save ALL Available SHSH" option is selected too.
• Then click Save SHSH button. Wait for the process to complete. It will save all shsh available for your device from Cydia and Apple.
• Once the process is over, go to C:/Users/User name/.shsh directory and see if the shsh file for the iOS version you want to downgrade to is present there. The file name looks like this - XXYYXXYYYYXX-iphone2,1-5.0.1.shsh. Where XXYY is the unique ECID of your device, iphone2,1 is your device model, and 5.0.1 is the version of the iOS you want to downgrade to.
• If the shsh blob for the iOS you want to downgrade to is not present there, then you are out of luck and can not downgrade to that iOS version.
• You can still process to downgrade to another version for which you have shsh blobs.

Okay, so once you have the shsh blobs saved, you can proceed further.

Note : Some old screen shots are used in this tutorial so save space. They are for reference and it does not affect the process at all.

How to Downgrade your iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 or iPod touch 4th generation from iOS 6.0.1?

Step 1
Downloading and preparing everything.
Download IPSW of the iOS version you want to downgrade to (if you don't have it) for your device. You can download IPSW for your device using the direct download links from Blog O'Nerd Downloads. Click here to download IPSW.
Download sn0wbreeze. Click here to download.
Download and install latest iTunes.

Step 2
Run sn0wbreeze.
The home screen looks like this:

Click OK. Read the information on the next page and click Next button.

Step 3
Click Browse for an IPSW button and browse to the directory where the IPSW is located, and select it. If your device is iPhone 3GS, it will ask you if it is old bootrom or new bootrom. If you know it, select the appropriate option. If you are unsure about it, select New Bootrom.

Step 4
Click iFaith Mode option on the next screen. It will ask you to browse for the iOS version you selected recently (the version you are downgrading to). So go to the C:/Users/User name/.shsh directory or anywhere else you have saved the shsh blobs and select the appropriate blob.

sn0wbreeze may now show a window with some geeky text. Just close it. After it finishes processing the blob you provided, it will show you the next screen.

Step 5
Click General option and click the next button.

On the next screen, you can chose to hactivate your iPhone. If you do not have the official SIM of your iPhone, you should check the Activate iPhone [hactivate] box. If you want to increase root partition space, provide it in MB under Root Partition Size. Click Next.

The next screen is for selecting any packages that you want to include in your IPSW. So when you restore using it, you will have these packages already installed with it.
If you want your IPSW to have any packages pre-installed, you can select them now.
Once you are done or if you do not wish to add any packages, click Next.

Step 6
Click on Build IPSW and click Next.

Now sn0wbreeze will start building IPSW.

Once sn0wbreeze completes building custom IPSW, it can guide you to enter Pwned DFU mode. This is important because you must enter Pwned DFU in order to restore using any custom IPSW. So click OK and follow the onscreen steps to enter Pwned DFU mode.

Step 7
Restoring using the IPSW. (the actual downgrade process)

Once your device is successfully in Pwned DFU mode, you can restore using the custom IPSW you created.

Open iTunes. It will tell you that your device is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. Click OK.

Now press and hold shift key on your keyboard and click Restore button. Now release the shift key and browse to the custom IPSW. It should be on your desktop. Its name will look like this - 00XXYYXX0XXYYXYX_sn0wbreeze_iPhone_3GS-5.0.1-9A405_signed Select the custom IPSW and let the restore process finish.

Step 8
Unlocking your iPhone.
Once the restore process is finished, you can proceed to unlock your iPhone. If it is iPhone 3GS with baseband 5.13.04 or previous, you can use ultrasn0w. If it is iPhone 4 with baseband 01.59.00, you can use ultrasn0w. If it is iPhone 3GS or 4 with any other baseband other than mentioned, you can not use ultrasn0w to unlock it. You must use SIM interposer such as Gevey SIM.

Method 1 : ultrasn0w
If your iPhone meets the baseband requirement for ultrasn0w as mentioned above, then open Cydia. Let it finish some first run process (if it does) then search for ultrasn0w and install it. Reboot your iphone and it should be now unlocked.

Method 2 : SIM interposer
If you need to use Gevey SIM or R-SIM, follow the steps mentioned by the manufacturer.

Method 3 : Unlocking using saved SAM Unlock tickets.

If you unlocked using the SAM unlock method in the past, and ONLY if you have backed up the Lockdown folder, you can now use it to unlock your iPhone. To do so, follow the below steps:

• Open Cydia and install SAM.
• Now open SAM and click Revert Lockdown to stock.
• Close SAM and connect your iPhone to your computer.
• Use an iPhone browser like DiskAid and browse to the /var/root/Library and delete the Lockdown folder there.
• Now copy the Lockdown folder you backed up to /var/root/Library. If you used redsn0w to backup Lockdown, you will have the folder in .zip format so unzip it and then copy the Lockdown folder to /var/root/Library/ on your iPhone.
• Reboot your iPhone. Open SAM and disable it.
• Reboot your iPhone again and you should see signal bar soon.

Okey dokey. Your device is now downgraded from iOS 6.0.1, it is jailbroken, activated (if selected) and unlocked.

How To Jailbreak, Activate and Unlock iOS 6.0.1 While Preserving Baseband Using sn0wbreeze

Hello everyone. In this post today, I am going to show you how to upgrade to iOS 6.0.1 and jailbreak, activate and unlock it while preserving baseband. ih8sn0w has just released the latest version of popular jailbreak tool for Windows - sn0wbreeze. In this version 2.9.7, he has updates sn0wbreeze to support iOS 6.0 and 6.0.1. So if you are among those who want to upgrade your iDevice to iOS 6.0.1, then this tutorial is for you. Let me begin.

Note : This tutorial is obsolete now as iOS 6.1 has been released and Apple has stopped signing iOS 6.0.1 shsh. You should upgrade to iOS 6.1. To learn how to upgrade to iOS 6.1 while preserving baseband, follow this tutorial.

If you still want to restore to iOS 6.0.1 only, then follow this tutorial to learn how to restore using a Signed Custom IPSW.

What this process will do?
Upon completing this process, you will have your device upgraded to iOS 6.0.1, which will be jailbroken and activated. It will also have its baseband preserved so you can retain your current unlock too.

Which devices are compatible?
This process is compatible with the following devices:
iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4th generation.

Why A5, A5X, A6 devices are not supported?
iPhone 4S iPhone 5, iPad 2, 3rd and 4th generation iPad, and 5th generation iPod touch are not compatible yet as there is no public DFU/Bootrom exploit available for these devices which can be used to jailbreak them.

Is this jailbreak tethered or untethered
The current iOS 6.0.1 jailbreak is tethered.

Note : Some older screenshots are used to save hosting space. This does not affect the process at all.

Step 1
Preparing everything needed.
Download iOS 6.0.1 IPSW for your device if you have not already. You can download iOS 6.0.1 using the direct download links from Blog O'Nerd Downloads. Click here to download iOS 6.0.1 IPSW.
Download sn0wbreeze. Click here to download.
Download and install latest iTunes.

Step 2
Run sn0wbreeze. The home screen looks like this.

Click OK. Read the information on the next page and click Next button.

Step 3
Click Browse for an IPSW button and browse to the directory where the iOS 6.0.1 IPSW is located, and select it. If your device is iPhone 3GS, it will ask you if it is old bootrom or new bootrom. If you know it, select the appropriate option. If you are unsure about it, select New Bootrom.

Step 4
Select Expert Mode on next screen.

Step 5
On the next screen, click on General and click Next button.

On the next screen, you can chose to hactivate your iPhone. If you do not have the official SIM of your iPhone, you should check the Activate iPhone [hactivate] box. If you want to increase root partition space, provide it in MB under Root Partition Size. Click Next.

The next screen is for selecting any packages that you want to include in your IPSW. So when you restore using it, you will have these packages already installed with it.
If you want your IPSW to have any packages pre-installed, you can select them now.
Once you are done or if you do not wish to add any packages, click Next.

Step 6
Now click on Build IPSW and click Next.

Now sn0wbreeze will start building custom IPSW.

Once sn0ebreeze completes building custom IPSW, it can guide you to enter Pwned DFU mode. This is important because you must enter Pwned DFU in order to restore using any custom IPSW. So click OK and follow the onscreen steps to enter Pwned DFU mode.

Step 7
Restoring using the custom IPSW.
Once your device is successfully in Pwned DFU mode, you can restore using the custom IPSW you created.

Open iTunes. It will tell you that your device is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. Click OK.

Now press and hold shift key on your keyboard and click Restore button. Now release the shift key and browse to the custom IPSW. It should be on your desktop. Select the custom IPSW and let the restore process finish.

After restore is finished and your device is booting, do not forget to use iBooty to boot it, otherwise it will stuck at Apple logo as the iOS 6.0.1 jailbreak is tethered.

Booting using iBooty.
The current iOS 6.0.1 jailbreak is tethered, meaning you will need to connect your device to your computer in order to boot it in jailbroken state. Otherwise, it will not be able to boot. So every time you need to reboot your iPhone, don't forget to connect it to your computer and use iBooty (available on your desktop) to boot it.

Run iBooty and select your device from the dropdown box. Then click Start button and follow the steps shown.

Step 8
Unlocking your iPhone.
Once the restore process is finished, you can proceed to unlock your iPhone. If it is iPhone 3GS with baseband 5.13.04 or previous, you can use ultrasn0w. If it is iPhone 4 with baseband 01.59.00, you can use ultrasn0w. If it is iPhone 3GS or 4 with any other baseband other than mentioned, you can not use ultrasn0w to unlock it. You must use SIM interposer such as Gevey SIM.
