Microsoft Releases Windows 7 Service Pack 1

Microsoft today released the first service pack for Windows 7. This service pack is an important update which includes security, performance, and stability updates releases previously for Windows 7. It also includes new improvements for features and services like improved reliability when connecting to HDMI audio devices, printing using the XPS Viewer, and restoring previous folders in Windows Explorer after restarting.

The Windows 7 Service Pack 1 update can be downloaded and installed directly using Windows Update. The download size for SP1 will be 750 MB and 1050 MB for 32 bit and 64 bit version respectively. In the list of available updates, this update is listed as Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB976932).

Windows 7 SP1 can be downloaded via Microsoft Download Center also.

One thing should be noted here that Genuine Windows Validation is required to download and install this update.

Microsoft also released Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 along with Windows 7.
