The users of MyBlogLog received an email today saying Yahoo is going to discontinue MyBlogLog service. The email suggests that MyBlogLog service will be discontinued from 24th March 2011, exactly after one month of official announcement today. While everyone is wondering why Yahoo! took this surprise decision, I predict some reasons that made Yahoo! to take this decision.
Reason 1 : Low income
Yahoo bought MyBlogLog for $10 MN in 2007. This decision was indeed smart but Yahoo couldn't keep it as expected. Yahoo predicted it to be a good turnover earner but it seems it didn't.
Reason 2 : Spam, a lots of!
Yahoo is facing spam since long. There's spam on Yahoo messenger, Yahoo mail and MyBlogLog too. Yahoo just can't get over it. Whenever I use messenger, I get that stupid bots asking me to click on a link that will show hot girls naked! Same in MyBlogLog. Yahoo could never get rid of spam bots.
Reason 3 : Lack of users
When yahoo bought MyBlogLog, they may have thought it will get over whelming response. But lack of publicity never did it. Yahoo never promoted MyBlogLog as one of it's own, main products. Just like google does it to YouTube or buzz. So it never got so many users as intended.
Reason 4 : Mixture of all of above
Yahoo may have finally thought that continuing MyBlogLog was getting itchy. The space it hold on yahoo servers could be used for something better eh! MyBlogLog was becoming an elephant for yahoo that needed more money to care for it then it earned for yahoo. So looking at all reasons above, yahoo finally decided to shut MyBlogLog down.
What do you think? Am I right with these predictions? I was just making a little fun. God knows if any of above reason is right. One blogger even claimed the email everyone got was a scam mail lol. We await your answer Yahoo!!
