A woman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after she left her elderly mother on the floor of her home for almost a week before she was hospitalized. She was taken to the Western Hospital where staff found her covered in faeces and ulcers.

Her legs were decaying, her right foot to mid-shin was black and maggot infested and her foot was gangrenous. She later died in hospital.

Mary Eve Pyrczak, 50 of Albans pleaded guilty on Thursday to manslaughter by negligence in the Victorian Supreme Court before Justice Paul Coughlan. Pyrczak was bailed to appear again in court on January 31.
