Steve Jobs Resigns As Apple CEO : Tim Cook Becomes The New CEO

Waking up this morning brought shocking news for me. Steve Jobs has resigned as Apple CEO. I thought it was a prank or something but it wasn't. Steve Jobs has actually resigned as CEO of Apple Inc. stating he could no longer handle the job. "I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come" he said in a letter to directors and the Apple community.

After resigning as the CEO of Apple, he suggested that he would continue to contribute as the chairman, director and Apple employee. He recommended Tim Cook's name as the new CEO of Apple. 50 years old Tim, who joined Apple in 1998 as senior vice president of worldwide operations, rose through the ranks to become chief operating officer. Tim has ran Apple temporarily in 2004 and 2009 when Steve Jobs was on medical leave. He played as the leader again in January 2011 when Jobs went on an indefinite leave. Before joining Apple, Cook worked at IBM for 12 year. He also worked at Compaq. Tim completed his M.B.A. from Duke University and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University.

Tim Cook will be a good replacement to Steve Jobs, analysts are saying.

It is assumed that 56 years old Steve Jobs resigned as CEO because of his frequent illness.

In my point of view, Apple was nothing without Steve Jobs. When he was kicked out of Apple in 1980's, the company struggled so much to meet success but it couldn't. When he returned to Apple as CEO, he changed the scene. iMac was released and it was a hit! After that, came the most revolutionary products iPod, iPhone and iPad - brainchildren of Steve Jobs. He was a kind of one man army at Apple. Now when Steve is leaving the Apple again as CEO, it would be hard to say if the company will continue to operate that good. I think, Apple will continue as a top company as iPhone, iPod and iPad seller- the most sold products of Apple - for a next few years. But the reality will be based on new ideas and innovations. If the company could bring fresh innovations, it will keep going at the top but if not, the other fall of Apple will be near.

Personally I loved Apple and Steve Jobs a lot. I loved its products, even with the restrictions they put on the user. Its products are a pleasure to use, no matter how costly (or overpriced) they are. iPod changed the portable music player market, iPhone changed the smart phone scene, iPad innovated the concept of tablets - successful ones. These products were "revolution", I can't define them in any other words.

Best of luck ahead Steve.
