Unidentified Girl's Body Dumped At New Delhi Reailway Station

The body of a young woman aged around 22 was found stuffed in a bag at New Delhi railway station. The bag was dumped allegedly by an unidentified couple. Witnesses said the couple came in an auto-rickshaw, dumped the bag that looked like a cricket kit bag near the taxi stand on the Paharganj side and left without either being challenged or caught on CCTV.

Despite (claimed) tight security at the railway station, the bag laid unattended for more than half an hour before a quick reaction team constable opened it.

"The woman was around 22 years old and appeared to be from a well to do family. She was about 5''2' tall and was wearing a black sweater and black trousers. She had a peacock quill tattooed on her belly and a ring on her navel. Her hands were tied and there were injury marks on her neck. We did not find evidence of sexual assault, and e are awaiting the postmortem report" A police official said.

Till late at night, the body was not identified. "There are no CCTV cameras facing the parking bay. We have to rely on eyewitness accounts," said a senior railway police officer. He said despite repeated requests, no senior Northern Railway officer came to the spot.
