Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) said on Monday that it has joined hand with rivals Intel and Nokia in open source project - MeeGo. "We are aiming to tap potential growth in demand for devices using the new platform." They added further.
Intel and Nokia announced a plan to create MeeGo earlier this year. MeeGo is a merger of Nokia's Linux Maemo software platform with Intel's Moblin, which is also based on Linux open-source software. The MeeGo operating system will be designed for netbooks, tablets, in-vehicle infotainment systems and smartphones.
Now that AMD have also joined two biggies in MeeGo project, it will be interesting to see what they bring together. Personally I am not a fan of Nokia's Symbian OS used in smartphones but I will be waiting for Nokia to release something innovative along with Intel and AMD.
