Train Collision In MP : 10 Feared Killed and 50 Injured

At least 10 people were killed and 50 injured in collision between a goods train and a stationary passenger train at Badarwas railway station in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district today. The accident took place when it was heavily raining at 04:45 in the morning according to railway officials.

According to Piyush Mathur, CPRO, West Central Railway 10 deaths have been reported so far. "It seems the goods train driver overshot the signal and hit the Indore-Gwalior Inter-City Express standing at the station", Mathur said.

Rajkumar Pathak, DM, Shivpuri said two bogies have been badly destroyed in the accident. The injured have been taken to hospitals in Guna and Shivpuri, he said. "It is a matter of inquiry how the accident took place but we can say that the Intercity was already standing at the station when the goods train came from the front and hit it" He added.

Heavy rainfall in the area is hampering rescue operations. Relief trains from Kota and Jhansi have been sent to the site.
