What is JailbreakMe 3.0?
JailbreakMe 3.0 is the third addition in the jailbreakme.com history. It is basically a website which loads a PDF file into your device via your device's browser and jailbreaks you device. To do so, it uses a security hole left by Apple (again!). JailbreakMe 3.0 has been developed by Comex who also developed JailbreakMe 2.0 (AKA Star). You should be aware of that JailbreakMe 3.0 is not a bootrom jailbreak tool. It is a userland jailbreak tool which means it is most likely to be patched in the next version of the iOS.

Note : Your device must be "activated" before you jailbreak. If you have a brand new device from any of the following, it is already activated. Which means you see the home screen. If you have upgraded your device to any of the following iOS, then you must activate your device first. To activate your device, insert the official SIM that came with your device and connect it to computer and open iTunes. It will be activated. If you don't have the official SIM, try any SIM of the service provider that is officially supported in your country. For example, any At&T SIM would work in the USA or any Vodafone SIM will work on the UK.

Note : If you want to jailbreak your iPad 2, it must be on iOS 4.3.3. If not, then upgrated to iOS 4.3.3 and then jailbreak using the following.

How To Jailbreak using JailbreakMe 3.0

Step 1:

Configure Wi Fi on your iDevice
Open http://www.jailbreakme.com/ on your device's browser.

Step 2:

Tap "Free" button.
Tap "Install" button.

Now if jailbreak starts successfully, you would taken to the home screen where you can see Cydia being downloaded and installed. Just as you are downloading an app from the app store.

Note: If it does not take you to the home screen but shows other page describing jailbreak has failed (the ooops page), go to home screen by pressing the home button and check if Cydia is being installed. If so, then jailbreak process has started and you don't need to do anything. But if Cydia is not being installed, then reboot your device and do the process again.

Step 3:

There is no step 3. Once Cydia has been installed, your device is jailbroken. Yes, no Pwned DFU, no geeky text screen, nothing. You are done. So easy!

Now open Cydia, select "user" when it ask "who are you?"and let it download updates.

Important : After you jailbreak your device, search for PDF Patcher 2 in Cydia and install it to avoid the security risk.

If you want to unlock your device, then search for "ultrasn0w" and install it. Reboot your device and you are done. Now your device is jailbroken and unlocked.
